  1. The 62th National Film Award.
    President Pranab Mukherjee on the ceremony of the 62nd National Film Award honored Shashi Kapoor with Dadasaheb Phalke award. He also rewarded Kangana Ranaut for the Best Actress ad Vijay as the Best Actor. 'Haider', William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy “Hamlet” also chosen for Best Dialogues and Music Direction for the film’s director Vishal Bhardwaj

    In the ceremony, 45 awards were given for the category of Feature Film along with 21 awards for the category of the Non-Feature film.
  2. Buddha Purnima observed across the world.
    On the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha (Prince Siddhartha Gautama), the founder of Buddhism, Buddha Purnima is observed. Buddha Purnima is known with the name "Vesak". The day marks the Nirvana and the death of Lord Buddha.

    Although this day is celebrated as a festival mainly in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal but people of different countries adopted Buddhism celebrated in their own ways across the world. On this auspicious day, PM Narender Modi also gives away his wishes on social media.
  3. Tunisia renowned for making Largest Flag.
    Tunisia set a record in the Guinness Book for making the largest Flag in the world. Flag used up 80 km of fabric to make the 104,544 sq.m flags and its weight is about 12.6 tonnes, Sources say. In upcoming days the world record will set officially.

    Khaoula Rachidi, the girl was rewarded by the Tunisian president for standing up for the Tunisian flag after Manouba campus incident where a religious student took down the flag and pushed down the secular female student who tried to stop him.
  4. PM Narender Modi joined "Weibo".
    PM Narender Modi has recently joined "Weibo", a Chinese social media platform. Weibo is always cited as Twitter in China.

    On Twitter,PM announced the news of his joining Weibo saying, "Hello China! Looking forward to interacting with Chinese friends through Weibo." Just weeks before his trip to China, PM Modi joined it.
  5. Lu Ping dies at the age of 87.
    Lu Ping, the Beijing negotiator on Hong Kong affairs, dies at age 87. Lu headed as former director in the State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) from 1990 to 1997. He has headed British colonial administration from 1987 to 1992. According to the sources, he had succumbed to cancer of a type.
