  1. Painting of Picasso sold at $179.4 million:
    Spanish artist Pablo Picasso has sold his oil painting named “Les femmes d’ Alger (Version ‘O’)” at an auction and earn $179.4 million for it.

    Till now this is the most expensive artwork that sold at auction after the “Three Studies of Lucian Freud” presented by Francis Bacon which was dealt for $142.4 million.
  2. New Governors appointed for six Indian states:
    President Pranab Mukherjee appointed four new Governors and transferred two Governors.

    New appointments
    1. Jharkhand: The Former CM of Odisha Droupadi Murmu is appointed as Jharkhand’s new Governor. She replaces Dr Syed Ahmed.
    2. Arunachal Pradesh: J P Rajkhowa will serve as the new Governor of Arunachal Pardesh after replacing Lt. General Nirbhay Sharma(Retd.).
    3. Tripura: Tathagata Roy will join his duty as the new Governor of Tripura.
    4. Meghalaya: V. Shanmuganthan will be the new Governor of Meghlaya.

    Transfers:

    1. Mizoram: Lt. General Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.) has been transferred from Arunchal Pardesh to Mizoram for his remaining tenure.
    2. Manipur: Dr. Syed Ahmed transferred from Jharkhand to Manipur

  3. Neel Mukherjee won the Encore Award for his novel:
    Indian author Neel Mukherjee won Encore award worth 10,000 pounds for his novel “The Lives of others”.

    This was his second novel. In 2010, Neel’s first novel “A Life Apart” was released and gained popularity at its peak.

    “The Lives of others” based on the theme of Naxalism and violence. It highlights the story of Supratik Ghosh how he joined the Communist Party of India.
  4. Indian - origin appointed as Mayor in the UK:
    Indian origin Harbhajan Kaur Dheer, 62, appointed as Mayor in Ealing Council in London. She clinched a place of First Asian women elected as Mayor in the UK after defeating Tej Ram Bagh.

    Her husband Ranjit Dheer is a former Mayor of Ealing during the period of 2001-2002. She came to Britain in 1975 and gained a Social science degree from Kingston University in 1995. Till date, she has participated in various social activities for the welfare of women and children.
  5. Deepak Iyer will be the new MD and CEO of Bharti AXA General Insurance:
    Bharti AXA General Insurance has appointed Deepak Iyer as his new CEO and MD. Deepak is currently working MD in Wringley India, working under Mars (US-based).

    He will serve his new position from June onwards and will take charge of Milind Chalisgaonkar.
  6. Google invests 1000 Crore to set up Asia’s biggest campus:
    Google is all set to establish Asia’s biggest campus In Hyderabad. According to the sources, Google Inc. will invest around 1000 Crore which opens wide opportunities for new jobs. Google campus will acquire about 2 million square feet area.

    An MOU has signed between Google Inc and IT secretary of Telangana KT Rama Rao at Mountain View, headquarter of Google in the US.

    Google will blow out around 13,000 jobs over the next four years.
